All the More

“But he kept calling out all the more,”

The blind man didn’t give up on Jesus.  He could have. He could have quieted down; He could have backed away.  But he didn’t. He kept calling out all the more. He didn’t let judgment or disappointment get between him and Jesus.

Sometimes, when a desire goes unmet for a long time, our disappointment prevents us from asking again - because we expect to be disappointed again.  But, what if the blind man hadn’t called out for Jesus again?

What if the blind man let his disappointment get in the way?

When the blind man didn’t receive healing the first time, when his desire was left unmet, he didn’t shrink back.  No - he called out all the more.  He kept believing.  He believed that Jesus would come to him.  And He did. Jesus came.

Sisters, we have to become like the blind man - we have to ask the Lord for what we want again and again.  We can’t let our fear of disappointment get in the way because there’s something special about asking. Again and again, the scriptures encourage us to ASK.  The scriptures encourage us to come to Him with our desires.

We have to admit our desires to the Lord.

Sisters, we have to take ownership of our desires, both good and bad, so that Jesus can do something with them.  There’s no way around it, you have to “own” your longing - your longing for a relationship, your longing for stability, your longing for fulfilling work, your longing for something new, your longing for something old, your longing for girlfriends, your longing for freedom - the list goes on and on.

Whatever your longing is - you have to own it.  It’s worth the risk. Like the blind man who called out all the more, you have to risk disappointment.  Because if you don’t, you can’t bring it to Jesus. And if you don’t bring it to Him, He can’t fulfill it.  And, Sisters...

Jesus wants to fulfill your desires.

He wants to fill you up. It might not look the way you think it should, but He will do it. He wants to love you like the blind man. He wants to help you see.

Father,

Thank You for caring about our desires. Thank You for allowing us to approach You instead of forcing Yourself on us. Thank You for Your love and Your affection. Thank You for never forgetting Your promises to us.

Abba, we need help risking our desires with You. When we share desire with You, it feels like a risk to our hearts. Please help us to grow and be transformed by Your love. Please help us to say, “No” to the fear of disappointment.

Father, we want the courage to call out to You. Please help us to be like the blind man who called all the more.

We love You, God. Amen.
