Not Just Legend
“I will meditate on Your wondrous deeds”
Last week, I devoured the new episodes of The Chosen. The Chosen is the first-ever, multi-season TV show about the life of Jesus; and during this quarantine, The Chosen live-streamed Season 1 for free on YouTube. As I watched the miracles of Jesus come to life, I was amazed and mystified over Him and His goodness all over again.
As He cast out demons and healed and turned water into wine, I was wide-eyed in wonder. Tears streamed down my face on multiple occasions because I saw “My Jesus” - the Jesus of my every-day, seemingly-mundane prayer life - minister to others the way that He ministers to me.
He’s REAL.
I’m tempted to doubt. On bad days, I worry that the Jesus I encounter is all in my head - that I must be crazy to believe I can hear His voice. And then I see a TV series with the same Jesus that I find every day in prayer. I realize that I know His voice, and I recognize His Spirit - because He’s unmistakable.
He’s the same Jesus, and, right before our eyes, He works miracles. Sisters, we have to meditate on what He’s done - on the miracles that He’s worked and the wondrous deeds He’s done. We have to remember that they’re miraculous. Because when they’re proclaimed, they bring hope. When we testify to God’s miracles, we create pathways for hope to flow - because if they happened once, they could happen again. They’re not just legends, they’re facts.
Father,
Thank You for working miracles. Thank You for coming to Earth and restoring hope. Thank You for walking among us and choosing to love us.
God, illuminate our minds in prayer. Bring us up close to the miracles You worked. Allow us to experience those moments with You. Teach us what it was like.
God, we love You. Help us to meditate on your wondrous deeds. Amen.
