He Hears

“In my distress I called upon the Lord, and He heard my voice.”

Sisters, as soon as I read today’s psalm, I knew that God had given it to us for a reason.  We are living through some crazy times right now, and God knows it. He’s not unaware or uninvolved or uninterested, and He knows that we need Him.

It’s tempting to panic and glue yourself to the news.  But while you’re getting informed and staying informed, just don’t forget who wins the battle.  Don’t forget the one who claims victory over the grave. And don’t forget that He bought it for you.

Jesus bought victory on the cross so that you could share in it.

We have a victorious God.  He hears our distress, and He knows our need.  He hears our call, and He knows our voice. Sisters, the world needs to see Christians who believe that God is going to come through.  This psalm needs to be true for us, and we need to believe it. We need to believe that He hears. We need to believe because our world needs our witness.  Not just to evangelize the world, but to bring it peace and freedom and calm in the storm.

Right now, the world needs our faith, our trust, and our freedom.  It needs the hope found only in Jesus. It needs the rock and the refuge that our God is.  It needs a savior and a deliverer. Our world is weary, and it needs Easter this year.

Girls, we’re 10 days out from resurrection, and when it hits, will you be ready to live in it?  Will you be ready to live in joy and in dancing? Will you be ready to live in belief? Will you be ready to believe that victory is assured?  And will you be ready to proclaim that Jesus is Lord over all - once and for all? If you’re not there yet, today’s psalm might be for you.

Father,

Thank You for hope.  Thank You for freedom.  Thank You for peace. Thank You for joy.  Thank You for riding in to shouts of praise.

Jesus, this weekend, we’re welcoming You with shouts of praise.  We know that next week we’ll enter into Your crucifixion with You - but this weekend, we’ll lay down palms of praise to welcome You into Jerusalem.  We’ll proclaim Your victory. We’ll prepare our hearts for Easter and for resurrection.

Lord, we want to believe in every one of Your promises.  We want to believe in Your victory and Your sovereignty and Your glory.  Stir up belief in our hearts, God. Stir up belief that we could be witnesses or freedom and joy and peace no matter what’s happening around us.

God, we love You.  Help us to believe in the miracle of Your love.  Amen.
