Moved
“His heart was moved with pity for them,”
When I encounter need, I’m often frustrated. When I have to wait for someone to get ready or when my personal space is invaded or when I’m interrupted while I’m working - I’m often frustrated or annoyed. Sure, it’s often a fleeting annoyance, but my first instinct isn’t generosity.
But Jesus isn’t like me. When Jesus encounters need, His heart is moved with pity.
Jesus is drawn to our need.
It is our need that attracts our God to us. He sees our weakness, and it draws His compassion. He sees that we are like sheep without a shepherd, and it moves Him. Our need inspires His power and His love.
Our weakness and our desire for help isn’t something to be hidden from God. He loves to help us because He loves to love us. When we accept our need for God, we welcome His love, His power, and His movement in our lives. When we accept our need, we draw God’s presence. Sisters, don’t hide your need from Him. He already knows your weakness and your need for Him - so let it inspire His compassion by sharing it with Him.
Father,
Thank You for seeing our weakness and coming close. Thank You for always wanting to be near to us. Thank You for drawing near to our need.
Abba, we need You. We need Your help and Your love. We want You to be close to us. Please continue to come close to us. We need You. We don’t have answers on our own; please draw near to our need and teach us how to move forward.
God, we love You. Help us to trust in Your love and care for us. Amen.
