Part of the Story
“Thus the total number of generations from Abraham to David is fourteen generations;”
This is a faith for the ages, Sisters. This faith, our faith, has been handed down from generation to generation to generation to generation. Passed from family to family to family to family. Ours is a rich history. And just as each name is written in the genealogy of Jesus, our names are written in Heaven.
Our names have a place in the history of our faith. Our names carry stories and witnesses of God’s glory. You have a name that will go down in history - you have a story that will be handed down from generation to generation to generation - either on Earth or in Heaven. Just as each name written in the first chapter of Matthew carries a story of faith into a new generation,
Your name carries a story of faith.
No matter what your family looks like or what you’ve come from - you were first a daughter of God. You first belonged to God, and He has written you into His plan for victory. He chose you to witness His glory. He chose you to be a part of His story. Your name is not an accident. Your life is not an accident. Our God is intentional about your story because He is intentional about you. You are not an orphan. You are not left behind. You are not forgotten.
You are an integral part of God’s vision for the world. You have a faith that has been built on generations of trust and faithfulness and God’s goodness. You have a family. You have a history. You’re a part of the story.
Father,
Thank You for choosing us. Thank You for giving us a story - just like every single person in the scriptures. Thank You for having a vision and a plan for us just like You had a vision and a plan for them.
Father, help us to keep our eyes fixed on You. Help us to remember that we’re a part of a much bigger picture than the small story before us at this moment.
God, we love You. Help us to have confidence in the story You’ve written for our lives. Amen.
