Liberated by Love
“For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us”
Deliver us. What does it mean to be delivered? It’s different from being saved or rescued - it’s more than that. To be delivered is to be set free, to be liberated. Consider the Israelites: God didn’t just rescue them, He delivered them. Deliverance is different than rescue.
If God was going to rescue the Israelites, He could have just scooped them up and plopped them into the promised land. No, He did one better - He delivered them. He liberated them. God wasn’t about a quick fix that could lead to more problems, He was about actual restoration for the Israelites. And…
He’s about actual restoration for you.
God wants to restore you completely. We ask God to deliver us because we don’t just need a Savior, we also need a Liberator. If our Savior doesn’t also liberate us, we’re still captive. Until the threats we face are made null and void, they still hold an element of power.
Because our Father liberates us, we don’t have to spend our lives running from our tormentors because when He saves us. God doesn’t just whisk us off without eliminating the threats and dangers to come. He delivers us because...
Our God is more than a rescuer;
He’s a Liberator.
He does it all. He leaves no stone unturned when He comes for you. He is thorough. When He rose again, He liberated you from this world and brought you into His family.
He didn’t just save us; He LIBERATED us. He made us new when He came - that’s WHY He came. He came to cancel all our debts. He came to pay it all, so that we could enter back into family with God. Because it’s all about His love for us.
He doesn’t want to be separated from us. Ever.
So He came and cut away the grasp of sin and stripped it of its power. He doesn’t let anything get in the way of His love for us - including us. Our sin, our brokenness, and our wounds are no match for His love.
Jesus came and created a new world for us where hope always wins. He changed the story from one of defeat to one of victory, so you could live from His victory and His love. He came and changed everything so that...
The Father’s love always wins.
Because our loving Father liberated us, we can stand in His love and His victory while we fight our wounds and our weakness and our broken parts. We can stand and fight from the authority He gives us as His daughters - we don’t have to run or escape from our battles. We’ve been liberated by love.
Father,
Thank You!
Thank You for Your thorough rescue. Thank You for mending our broken hearts, binding our broken wounds, and pulling us out of sin’s grasp again and again and again.
Thank You for winning, God. Thank You for Your victory. Thank You for delivering us.
Thank You for liberating us.
You’re just the best. We love You!
